SAFETY - Our Prime Concern
List of items we carry:
- A PAC (Portable Altitude Chamber), a standard feature on all our treks and tours that go over 3500 mt. or 11500 ft. - Medical first aid kit with all basic medicines and equipments carried in every trip.
- Dome or A shaped tent of high quality adds safety and comfort in all our treks.
- High-pressure boiled and filtered water at our camps ensure 100% safe drinking water.
- All our cooks and kitchen assistants are trained to provide hygienically prepared nutritious meals with the menu of variety of local ethnic food / Chinese / continental and Italian.
- On Tea House treks, we use lodges /guest-houses that have good reputation for food, hygiene, safety and hospitality.
- In the event of an accident or serious ailment on a trek, helicopter evacuation can be arranged. The helicopter fare with the hospital/medical charge will have to be cleared before departing Kathmandu. A risk, release and guarantee form has to be signed before leaving on a trek along with a deposit of US$ 3000 (US Dollars Three thousand only) per group (for high altitude treks) as an emergency fund for the Helicopter charter.
INSURANCE:
There are medical insurance policies in Nepal for foreigners. The details about the insurance policies will be provided upon request. However we recommend clients take a comprehensive holiday insurance in your own country covering adventures involving some elements of risk.
HEALTH:
We strongly recommend that people with heart problems and asthma do not trek in high altitudes. It is risky.
FITNESS
Another important factor is fitness. One needs to be fit, in the sense that one can have stamina and some endurance. We recommend that first time hikers do at least one month of exercise - running / jogging for about 45 minutes to an hour before attempting to trek above 3000 meters of altitude. Also, one enjoys the trek more when he/she is fit and there are less chances of getting sick or injured when fit.
PERSONAL MEDICINES
Though a medical kit is carried in all treks, we strongly recommend that one should bring their personal medicines with them, as some medicines suit some better than others. Enough medicines for Blood sugar, Pressure, Diabetes or any other medicines for personally related medical problems should be carried from home itself. One should also inform Sacred Summits (P) Ltd. while corresponding or the guide before the trek about allergies, if any.
